1 in 10 babies are born premature. Many more full-term babies require specialist care due to serious health issues or complications. Overall 5,000+ babies are cared for in a neonatal unit in New Zealand, EVERY YEAR.

Locally, in the Wellington region, over 1,000 babies go through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Wellington hospital every year. Over 400 babies go through the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in Lower Hutt hospital every year.

The Neonatal Trust does not receive any Government funding and are entirely reliant on the generosity of individuals, companies and organisations in the form of donations, value-in-kind donations, grants, sponsorship and fundraising events to supplement operating costs and fund initiatives such as these.

There will be opportunities to make a donation during the whole 2018 event - pop your hand in your pocket and drop something into the bucket. AND, if you've not got cash (who does these days) have no worries as we have partnered with Givahoy that allows you to pledge a donation with a tap of the app's button
